Ask about the actual manufacturing route
Confirm whether the supplier manufactures the relevant ceramic, metallization or package operations, or coordinates them through partners. Either model can work if responsibilities, change control and traceability are clear. A broad ceramic product list does not establish capability for your geometry.
Request representative evidence
Ask for current design rules, sample inspection reports and qualification data relevant to the proposed stack. Verify any certification with its issuing body and scope. Photos and general factory claims do not prove a particular copper thickness, via structure or reliability performance.
Make quotations comparable
Provide one controlled drawing package and ask suppliers to identify deviations and assumptions. Review material substitutions, outsourced operations, inspection coverage and lead-time dependencies. Decide how engineering changes and nonconforming parts will be handled before placing production orders.
Engineering example
If two suppliers quote “AlN ceramic PCB” at very different prices, compare grade, finish, copper, tolerances and inspection scope before treating the difference as a pure pricing advantage.
Before you release the design
- Match capability evidence to your construction.
- Confirm traceability and change control.
- Resolve quotation deviations explicitly.
