Copper trace resistance calculator
Estimate a uniform copper trace’s DC resistance, voltage drop and electrical loss at a known conductor temperature.
For uniform bulk copper and DC only. Does not model plated-film variation, contacts, vias, skin effect or temperature rise. Not an ampacity or safe-current calculator. Temperature input is limited to −50 to 200°C for this simple model.
Calculation method
R = ρ × L/A; V = I × R; P = I² × R. Model assumptions: bulk copper ρ₂₀ = 1.724 × 10⁻⁸ Ω·m and linear temperature coefficient 0.00393/K.
How to use the result
